NEW TO CF/COLDFUSION VS. PHP
I am new to ColdFusion; I know enough about it to know that I prefer it to PHP, but I suspect there are many reasons (of which I am unaware) that might make CF more attractive to me as a new developer. Would anyone care to talk about the differences between the two languages; I mean, things that one such as myself should think about?
Also, I must say that I was torn between PHP and CF. I knew I liked CF better, but there were just soooo many available PHP resources and forums and groups, etc. that made me think I'd be better off with PHP, just starting out. Then, I came across this site, read some articles/discussions and what I found swayed me and made me pick up all three of volumes in Forta's CF Application Development Kit. I decided, however, to start with Lynda.com.
Can someone talk about the critical path to CF proficiency and which of the two learning resources might be better?
Last, is it okay to ask questions about CF code in this forum?

The fact is that I was very lost when started CF and in this community I met so many great people willing to help.
I am, let's say a beginner too. I also started asking questions here and after a while I received MANY good suggestions. Now I would like to help a buddy begginner, cause I received the same kindness from others in this community. I am now giving you some very good resource, where you will have enough information to start with. I am actually giving you what I collected for myself as a beginner with the help of this CF Community.
1. great response and advice from others in CF Community (make sure to browse through pages)
2. my blog (with some very useful links and it may interest you my point of view to CF as a beginner)
3. Don't forget to go trough to the forum on this site as well!
4. One of the best advice people here gave me was to follow the right people on Twitter. so I did. you can follow me (@combofusion) and then follow the others I am following... 95% are CF developers.
